Splitface & rockface

Wall stone: splitface strips and rockface on Curaçao

Wall stone with a natural cleft face gives a facade, garden wall or feature wall relief and shadow — exactly what a crisply rendered villa needs. We supply two kinds: splitface strips (rectangular strips of free length, stacked in a running bond) and rockface (irregular, polygonal pieces laid like a puzzle).

Splitface strips come in Silver, Light, Noce and Classic Mix travertine and in Bluestone and black marble. Rockface is available in 22 stones: from light travertine and white marble to basalt, andesite and colourful Scabos. All on order, per pallet or crate.

Why wall cladding from Travertin Curaçao

  • Relief and shadow

The cleft face catches the Caribbean light; a wall changes colour from morning to evening.

  • Outdoors and indoors

Facade, garden wall, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, TV wall or shower wall: the same stone works everywhere.

  • Light in weight

Splitface strips of 1.5 to 2.1 cm thick glue onto any stable wall without extra structure.

  • Every wall unique

Rockface is laid by hand; no two walls are the same.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about wall cladding

What is the difference between splitface and rockface?

Splitface consists of rectangular strips with a cleft (split) face, laid in straight horizontal courses. Rockface consists of irregular, polygonal pieces fitted together. Splitface looks sleeker and more modern, rockface more rustic and natural.

Can natural stone cladding be used outdoors on Curaçao?

Yes. Travertine, marble, basalt and limestone withstand sun, rain and sea air. Use a flexible exterior adhesive and seal the wall after grouting; salt deposits and algae then stay away.

How is splitface installed?

Strips of free length are glued in a running bond onto a flat, stable substrate, usually without a visible joint. Start at the bottom with a level course and work upwards. Corners are mitred or made with corner pieces.

How much wall stone do I need?

Measure height × width of the wall in metres, subtract windows and doors and add 10% for cutting waste (15% for rockface). Send us the measurements via WhatsApp for the square metres and crates.
